Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Medical Commission (NMC) on July 27, 2026, issued a notification regarding the constitution of Enabling Units for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

The following has been stated: -

•The National Medical Commission has directed all medical colleges/institutions to constitute an Enabling Unit for students with benchmark disabilities under the RPwD Act, 2016.

•The Unit will serve as a single point of contact for reasonable accommodation, academic/clinical support, and barrier-free access.

•It will address accommodation requests, disseminate information, and coordinate with disability assessment boards, faculty, and hospital authorities.

•Institutions must ensure the Unit is functional, accessible, publicized, and maintains confidential records to promote an inclusive, non-discriminatory learning environment.
